Yearly, Monthly and Daily Predictions

Which planet determines gochara?

For Daily horoscopes we need to consider the position of Moon (chandra). This 'graha' is fast moving and transits a rashi / sign in just 2.5 days.

For monthly horoscope prediction we need to consider the position of sun, venus, mars and mercury. These planets transits a house in about a month's time.

For yearly predictions Jupiter /guru, saturn / sani and rahu-ketu are used.

If jupiter and saturn get malefic positions according to transit then whenever mars and sun tranits benefic houses then bad results will be experienced.

When sun and mars are malefic the good results of moon are not experienced by the native.

If a person is ill while moon transits a malefic house in gochara, then his health will improve when moon enters a benefic sign.

But the good are bad results according to transit will happen only if the results are promised in the birth horoscope. For example if a horoscope shows 'puthra dosha' (no child) he will have no children even if guru / jupiter enters 5th house (guru is 'puthra karaka' (planet for progeny/children)) during transit.

So Gochara / tranist should be used to timing events that are promised in the birth chart. It will be more accurate if it is used along with vimshottari dasa system. Using these two tools one can accurately predict when things will happen. Things like marriage, child birth, profession, job, lottery speculation can be determined using these tools.

Planetary Transits / Gochara in horoscopes

Introduction to Daily, weekly, monthly horoscopes

A horoscopic chart is like a still picture of the zodiac and the planets which are otherwise in a state of flux. The horoscopic chart indicates the position of planets at the time of birth. The constant movements of planets, however, continues, and in this process the various planets transit over sensitive areas of the horoscope. This makes occurence of specific events possible. The sequence of dashas indicates the sequence of events that happen in an individual's life at appropriate moments. Transit of planets helps us confirm the moment of occurence of events highly accurately.

The horoscopic chart carries a promise which the dasha pattern unfolds in time. Whatever is promised in a chart of the individual will happen only during the dasha of the corresponding planets. The transits confirm the unfolding of that promise at a given time. The 'Gochara' are thus subservient to the natal chart and its dasha pattern. They confirm the promise in the chart and indicate its fruitification.

How Gochara is counted / calculated?

The transit of planets in different houses is considered from the position of the Moon in the natal chart. i.e the Janma rashi or the moon sign. For example, Moon was in the Aries sign when you were born, your rashi / moon sign is Aries. Different planets are said to produce different results when they transit the various houses considering the Janma Rashi as the lagna. Transit over certain houses are benefic and other houses are malefic / harmful and results are not good.

The Vedha

Good results produced by the planets transiting certain houses are obstructed by other planets occupying certain other specific houses. These obstructing planets are said to produce what is called 'Vedha'. I have given the houses of benefic transits and the corresponding Vedha positions for the various planets.

Sun

Benefic Transits for sun: 3, 6, 10, 11
Vedha positions: 9, 12, 4, 5

For example, the sun produces benefic results when transiting the 6th house, unless there is an obstructing planet in the 12th house from the Moon sign. Similarly its 10th house transit is good unless obstructed from the 4th house planet.

Moon

Benefic transits for moon: 1, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11
Vedha positions: 5, 9, 12, 2, 4, 8

Mars

Benefic transits for mars: 3, 6, 11
Vedha positions: 12, 9, 5

Mercury

Benefic transits for mercury: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11
Vedha positions: 5, 3, 9, 1, 8, 12

Jupiter

Benefic transits: 2, 5, 7, 9, 11
Vedha positions: 12, 4, 3, 10, 8

Venus

Benefic transits: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12
Vedha positions: 8, 7, 1, 10, 9, 5, 11, 3, 6

Saturn and Rahu

For Saturn and Rahu benefic transits and Vedha positions are the same as in the case of Mars.

Important points:

1) The father-son duo (Sun and Saturn, Moon and mercury) do not cause Vedha to each other

2) While a planet gives benefic results when transiting benefic houses, its transit over the corresponding Vedha positons gives adverse results. For example, the Sun transiting the third house gives benefic resutls, but its transit over the ninth house produces bad results. These bad results are obstructed (or get subjected to Vedha) if another planet, other than saturn, transits the third house at the same time. Thus Vedha obstructs benefic results as also adverse results.

I have told that sun produces benefic results when transiting 3rd house. This can be blindfoldly applied to everybody. Your Rashi may be Mesha and sun may be transiting Mithuna (third house). We should also consdier whether the particular sign is friendly/ enemey/ ruling/ exalation sign of the planet. For Simha rashi thula is the third house and sun is debilitated in thula rashi and will not give benefic results. Benefic results are also altered by the aspects of malefics.

While reading transit predictions one should consider the planet's karaka, signification of the house the it tranists and signification of the house lord. For example if your janma rashi is Mesha and Jupiter is transiting the 5th house (Simha) you should consider karaka for jupiter. Jupiter is responsible for Children, Money / prosperity. The fifth house is representing children, conception, prosperity etc. The fith lord (in our case, the sun) is the significator of father, soul, courage, earning etc. Thus all these three factors must be considered before predicting transit horoscopes.
