Significations of the Moon (chandra)

The second important planet in vedic astrology is the moon or Chandra. The moon receives light from sun and reflects it. Due to moon we experience Amavasya (No Moon) and Poornima (Full Moon). Moon is the significator of Mind. If moon is afflicted in a person's horoscope he may encounter mental challenges. In worst cases he may become lunatic (Luna (Moon) - lunatic).

Moon signifies Mother, Sleep, prosperity, vehicles, women, benefits from women, scent, intelligence, beauty, longevity, left eye.

Moon is malefic if he occupies 5,9,12,4 and 8th houses in a horoscope. Moon is good in 1,3,6,7,10 and 11th houses. During Dakshanayana, night, and in 4th house moon gains power. Moon gives benefic results while he transits Rohini, Thiruvonam, Punarpoosam, Vishakam, pooratahi nakshatras. He will give bad results while transiting  karthikai, uthiram, aayilyam, kettai, uthiradam, revathi nakshatras. Moons results are experienced during 24-26 age in life. He will start giving results, 1 hour before entering a new rashi.
